"I've always written songs of stories or pictures I saw in my mind's eye. Then someone pointed out that the songs were coming true in real life. In the interest of self-preservation I started trying to write songs a little more upbeat, just in case. But it just doesn't work that way. Now I know I'm just supposed to pass on what comes out and filter it through my rosy, naive view of life. I'll let the rest of the world sort out the details."
